Kevin Eberle – WY – PSA Advanced Instructor

Kevin is the PSA Training Coordinator for the state of Wyoming.

I met Kevin many years ago as a fellow competitive shooter. As we got to know one another, we found we had many things in common, both in things we like to do and how we thought about different things. A strong friendship grew that led us to doing more things together.

I consider Kevin to be a serious practitioner of both the serious and the sporting side of firearms and martial arts. More than that, he is driven to be the best he can be and find out all he can about various areas of interest. He has spent considerable time and expense to further his education as well as try things out on his own. That speaks a lot to his passion for excellence.

Kevin is a BIG guy. You would not think a guy that big can shoot and move fast but he can and does! Many times I have just shaken my head at his skill level.

I consider Kevin to be an advanced level shooter and practitioner. His skills are rated in the top 15% in the world for USPSA and he has great all around firearms skills and knowledge of the defensive and competitive side of firearms.  His defensive training, mindset and skill level qualify him to teach and train others at all levels, including the advanced level training that we do.

As an instructor, Kevin is both patient and attentive. He understands the methodology we use and applies it daily to himself and his students.

It just goes to show that there are many ways to build skill and expertise without being in the military or law enforcement establishment.

Kevin’s Bio:

I grew up in Rapid city, SD.  My interest in firearms started early, my favorite toys as a child were guns, my first BB gun was at age 9,  My first .22 rifle at age 13. My interest in handguns began in college and really took off from there. In 1990, I moved to WY and started my own business in Casper, WY.

My interests………my passion is shooting, I love to shoot, to practice, to train, to compete.

I believe it is not only our right but our responsibility to protect ourselves and our families.  We not only need the tools but more importantly the training to be very proficient in how we choose to defend ourselves. This is why I pursue training courses that allow me to protect my family and community should the need arise. I have taken many classes over the years for both competitive shooting and defensive firearms training. I consider myself to be a serious practitioner of defensive firearms as well as a serious competitive shooter.

I have been a student of Ron Avery and The Practical Shooting Academy for quite a few years now and I have also taken dozens of classes from other instructors, both for competition and defensive firearms training with handguns, carbines, long range rifle and shotguns.

I know what it feels like to be a student and I know how I like to be treated when I took a class.

I strongly believe that cross training in different forms of shooting and training leads to a better performer no matter what environment you work in. Part of training is putting yourself under stress to see how you perform. The pressure of competitive shooting is a great way to do this.

I have been a shooting enthusiast most of my life. I enjoy all types of competitive shooting including USPSA, IDPA, NRA Action Pistol, SASS Cowboy Action, 50 BMG Long Range, 3 Gun competition, Sniper competitions and, of course, hunting.

I am a Master Class shooter in USPSA, an NRA Certified Instructor and an Instructor for The Practical Shooting Academy.
